Environment and sustainability — how do we really think about Siggesta Farm?

There is a lot of talk about sustainability. We like to do. Here are some things we actually do -- every day:

We meet the requirements as an eco-labelled hotel

  • Employees are informed about the company's environmental policy, environmental objectives and action plan
  • We have good management of chemicals and use 90% eco-labelled or chemical-free cleaning products.
  • We have installed low flush shower and hand grease nozzles in some of our hotel buildings.
  • We quickly fix dripping taps and running toilets
  • We have an environmentally friendly refill system for soap. We use 300ml bottles at the hotel to avoid disposable soaps. In the restaurant and all premises there is everywhere dispensing dispenser with 500ml soap
  • All the time, we change products/machines and strive for energy-efficient and eco-labelled products/machines.
  • We switch to low energy lamps/LEDs everywhere we renovate for the future.
  • Source sorting takes place in different stations. Glass/plastic/metal we have in two places, food waste we have in 4 places.
  • We bake our own bread to some extent.
  • We use as much as possible environmentally friendly disposable materials, office, paper and conference products.
  • We work with as local suppliers as possible when it comes to food and drink to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, for example.
  • We use Swan branded detergents.
  • We hire local contractors as much as possible.
  • We can present an alternative to traveling by car to a conference or stay with us, via shared bus ride.
  • We have thermostats in all rooms that are set to a fixed temperature.
  • We serve both KRAV and Fairtrade coffee in our restaurants.
  • The fish we serve is greenlisted according to WWF guidelines.
  • We are proud of our beautiful water. On the farm we have our own wells and treatment plants. We serve our own water, which we purify (and carbonate) and pour on our own glass bottles.
